Online learning giant Coursera unveiled a new AI-powered adaptive learning system today that personalizes STEM degree coursework based on individual student performance and learning patterns.
The system uses machine learning models to identify knowledge gaps in real time, adjusting lesson difficulty and recommending supplementary materials tailored to each student's needs. Early pilot data shows a 22 percent improvement in course completion rates.
The adaptive paths are initially available for computer science, data science, and engineering degree programs offered through partner universities including the University of Illinois and Arizona State University.
